The APEX 3DTM total ankle replacement is a product from Paragon28, Inc. It was cleared by the FDA in 2020. It is a bone preserving 2 part semi constrained device that closely mimics the anatomic ankle. Just like the natural ankle, this total ankle has multi-axial motion built into the design.
Paragon28 in the design of the APEX 3DTM system incorporates advanced materials and designed exceptional instrumentation to promoting reproducible and accurate placement. The polyethylene bearing is a highly cross linked plastic and is infused with Vitamin E which improves plastic strength and durability over time. Lastly, portions of the device are 3-D printed to mimic natural bone porosity to promote improved bone to implant fixation.
Dr. Jeffrey Christensen has extensive total ankle experience and is one of the design surgeons for this device, working closely with the Paragon28 engineers to bring this design to market.
